NO, glass is not accepted in your curbside cart but can be taken to the area across from the fire station by Township Hall. Starting in June, our Glass Only Recycle Trailer will be open.Before You Burn
We ask that before you burn, you notify the Township Office and our local Fire Department. We ask that you also please remember to check the DNR website for area burning bans and permit information. Hazardous waste can be taken to West Ishpeming Transfer Station in West Ishpeming. For more info call 906-486-8191. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Dates 2023 Wed, June 7, 2023: hours 3-7 p.m. Wed, Aug 9, 23: hours 3-7 p.m. Wed, Oct 4, 2023: hours 3-7 p.m. West End Transfer Station Spring/Summer Hours of Operation 2023 Mondays: hours 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Thursdays: hours 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. Fridays: hours 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. West End Transfer Station Tickets will be $8 per 100 lbs. Tickets are available for purchase in the Township Office. Tire tickets: 18" & smaller - $5 each; w/rim $7 each Tire tickets: 19" to 22.5" - $10 each; w/rim $12 Authorization forms for disposal of construction materials (shingles, etc.) are available at the Township Office. The Township has a list of acceptable materials that can be disposed of. Materials must be taken to the Marquette County Landfill located at 600 County Road NP, Marquette (accessible via County Road 480 near Lindberg’s Gravel Pit). 2024 DUMPSTER DATES!Tires will be accepted this year
The following items will not be accepted: building materials, gas tanks, hazardous materials, shingles, and septic tanks. Appliances containing freon will be accepted with a $40 payment per item. Please come to the Township Office or find a DPW representative to make payment before dropping freon containing items. Please do not dispose of brush or yard waste at dumpster site. Yard waste and brush can be taken to the compost site located near the Michigamme campground. The gate is unlocked. building materials, gas tanks, hazardous materials, shingles, and septic tanks.
2024 Glass RecycleGlass Recycle Trailer The glass recycle trailer is located on the corner of Lake Street and Barnum Street across from the fire hall. Empty and rinse all glass containers and remove all lids, caps, or corks prior to putting them in the recycle trailer. Lids, caps, and corks can be put in the container located next to the recycle trailer. Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to recycle – We appreciate your cooperation!

Thursday is regular garbage pick-up day
Please make sure your garbage is in TIED regular garbage bags and placed in the trash bins recently handed out. The maximum weight for garbage bags is 35 lbs. If the Township experiences an emergency or inclement weather on the scheduled garbage day, pickup may be delayed until the next available day. Delays will be announced on TV6 and local radio stations.
Recycle Cans will be picked up every other Thursday.
