Steps to prepare a turkey (easier than you think)
- Place your thawed or fresh turkey on flat rack in a pan. Keep the breast up.
- Brush or rub the skin with oil (and seasoned salt to taste). This keeps the turkey skin from drying out and helps to get the golden brown look.
- Place turkey into a preheated 325 oven ( not wrapped)
- When turkey has cooked about 2/3 of the time, put foil over as a tent to keep from over browning the skin.
- Using your thermometer, check about a 1/2 hour before the chart suggests. 165 degrees. (deeply pierce thigh - should have clear liquid. thickest part of breast. center of stuffing )
